Our Story
Our story begins not just in a family-run upholstery shop in Boston, Massachusetts, but with a young man named Kostas Konstantinidis, who arrived in America in the early 1980s with nothing but a staple puller and a dream. Born and raised in Athens, Kostas had honed his craft from a young age, apprenticing at a local upholstery shop in his neighborhood. Under the guidance of his mentor, Nikos Mailis, Kostas learned the intricacies of upholstery, from sweeping floors to mastering the fine art of craftsmanship that would become his life's passion.
When Kostas first set foot on American soil, he found work as a fry cook at a local Burger King. Yet, as he stared at the uniform hanging in his closet, he knew that this was not the future he had envisioned. On the day he was supposed to start, he made a pivotal decision—he skipped his first shift and instead sought out the familiar comfort of an upholstery bench. Fate, and a friend named Savvas, led him to a local upholsterer who gave him his first opportunity to work as a craftsman in his new home.
It was a humble beginning, but Kostas was relentless. He knocked on doors, offering his services to anyone who would give him a chance, spending every spare moment honing his skills. In 1982, his perseverance paid off when he opened his own upholstery shop in a basement on Langley Road in Newton, Massachusetts. This small shop was the birthplace of Lousso Designs. As the years passed, Kostas' reputation for impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail spread. His basement workshop soon expanded, adding an office and eventually moving to a larger space in Canton, Massachusetts. Kostas' passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces attracted skilled tradespeople to join his team, and together they refined their craft, serving both residential and commercial clients.
